If you’re the type to struggle with what to get your lady love every year, we’ve got some suggestions that are sure to blow the previous year’s gifts out of the water.
Unlike men who expect sex on Valentine’s Day, women appreciate thoughtful gifts as well as tangible gifts.
If you noticed she was disappointed last year, of if this year is the first Valentine’s Day you’re spending together, you want your gift to make a statement.
Contrary to popular opinion, it’s not the appropriate day to propose. It might seem so, but it detracts from the special moment, and the day will forever be the anniversary of your proposal rather than just Valentine’s Day.
So, if you’re thinking of popping the question, choose a different day to make your own. Instead, opt for one of these ideas and let her know she’s special to you.
Spa Day at Home
While there are a few women out there who don’t enjoy spa treatments, most of us are eager to have a massage, facial, mani-pedi and any other treatments that will relax us and make us feel refreshed.
However, these types of treatments can add up, and many women can only enjoy them occasionally.
You can create a spa-like atmosphere at home. It might take some careful research and planning, but you can schedule a massage therapist or masseuse, and a cosmetologist to come to her.
Schedule these appointments as soon as possible so you can get a good time.
If you can’t get one to come to her, you can create an experience with the best spa-day products. And, if it comes down to it, you can rent a massage table, get some relaxing essential oils, dim the lights and give her the massage she deserves yourself. You can also give her a mani-pedi if you have to. You can quickly learn how on YouTube.
If the effort is too much, you can break down and get her a spa gift card. Enough to cover a facial and a massage should be good. Or you can opt for a day of pampering. Talk to the spa manager about a discount for multiple services.
Some items for a home spa day include:
Build a Beauty Routine Kit
Does your lady have a meticulous beauty routine? If so, you can build her a beauty kit of her favorite products for Valentine’s Day.
This gift will show her you care enough to pay attention. You know what brands she uses, and what she might need refills on.
A fun thing about this is you get to go on a scavenger hunt for her items.
First, carefully observe her routine. What does she washer her face with? What’s her favorite brand or moisturizer. Doe’s she use a BB cream?
Take note of all these things.
Hit her favorite stores to find her favorite face wash, moisturizer, day cream, night cream, lip cream, eye cream and any other products she uses. If she shops at department stores or beauty stores like Macy’s, Ulta and Sephora some brands usually have bundles that include bonus items like, a makeup bag or handbag.
You can use such a bonus item as a gift bag. Place all the items in the bag with a little tissue paper and voila!
You know that handbag she’s been eyeing for months? Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to gift it to her.
Sure, it’s nice to spend time with your gal on this day. But, if you’re at a loss for what to get her, that Chanel purse will definitely show her how much you care.
It’s always nice to make it a surprise, but if you don’t remember which bag she wants, ask her.
Or you can ask her bestie, who might still ruin the surprise.
Just understand that the financial investment you make on the purse may or may not earn you extra favor. But, you’re buying it out of the kindness of your heart, so that doesn’t matter, right?
Rom-Com Movie Night
Turn your living room into a home theater.
Put on her favorite rom-coms or some classic romantic comedies like Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally and French Kiss. Pretty much any late 80s to mid 90s movie starring Meg Ryan will do.
Pick up the movie snacks you know she loves from the Dollar Tree or $99 Cents Only Store, pop a bag of popcorn and some soft drinks, (or wine).
Let her know you guys are binging romantic comedies so she should get comfy and take a load off because you’ve got it all under control.
Order pizza or Post-Mates some other delivery, and make it a fun night in.
Tickets to Her Favorite Performer
Is your lady part of the Beyhive? Does she love BTS? Or does she fangirl over Halsey?
Concert tickets are highly coveted no matter who they’re for. People love their artists and many would pay exorbitant amounts to see them perform. If she won’t buy herself concert tickets, maybe you should.
The sooner you start looking for tickets the more likely you’ll be able to get the seats you want. Keep an eye out for upcoming concerts. Tickets may not be on sale yet, but you’ll be among the first to know when they are.
If you can’t have tickets in-hand by Valentine’s Day, design a cute IOU stating your intention t purchase tickets the minute they become available.
Put the IOU in a card, and gift her something relevant to the performer, like a t-shirt or other memorabilia i.e. poster, keychain, etc.
Just Trust Your Instincts
When in doubt trust your heart to provide inspiration for a Valentine for your sweety.
You probably know, deep down inside, what she wants. A heartfelt gift is worth more than any suggestion you’ll find online.
